Annual Washie 100 Miler set for next Friday

Updated: Aug 6, 2019

Preparations for the 2019 Washie 100 Miler are well underway. This event has grown over the last few years and, once a runner has mastered the Comrades ultra-marathon, they look for another challenge. The Washie 100 is one obvious choice.

At 5 pm on July 12 some 100 resilient men and women will set off from the Cathcart Golf Club in an effort to arrive at the Buffs Club in East London before the cut off time at 7pm on July 13.

These athletes will have their own seconding teams who will motivate the runner through the dark, cold night into the morning and through the day to complete one of the greatest ordeals they will ever undertake.

The public is requested to take care when driving on the N6 between Cathcart and East London and to be aware that the North East Expressway could be temporarily closed to traffic at intermittent periods throughout the race day of July 13.
