BC U/16s win silver

For the second consecutive year, the now Buffalo City Water Polo under 16 girls completed the SA Schools Tournament as our province's top-placed team on Wednesday in Johannesburg.

Improving on last year's bronze medal finish as under 15's, this year they made it to the final after what was described as one of the games of the tournament when they beat Western Province 7 - 4 in their semi. Spearheading their attack was the tournament’s top under 16 girls goal scorer and Clarendon pupil, Kristin

Hatley with 24 goals. In the final, they came up against a strong Central Gauteng team where they narrowly went down 4 - 6. "I really enjoyed the tournament, it was tough but we managed to get into the final.

Hopefully next year we can go one better," Hatley said. The under 14 and under 15 boys were Buffalo City's next best-placed sides each finishing in fourth while the under 14 girls, under 15 girls and under 19 girls all placed fifth overall.

Chairman of Buffalo City Water Polo, Andrew Reeves said all the teams were competitive and that we can be very proud of their achievements.

"Various SA squads in all age groups will be chosen from this tournament and we are sure that Buffalo City will be well represented. These names should be released early in the New Year," Reeves concluded.

Top L-R: Amy Pike, Tia Caswell, Kerry-Ann Lentz, Michaela Alberts, Asisipho France, Olivia Schaefer, Coach Kyle Kumm. Bottom L-R: Robin Pritchard, Lihle Mahamba, Megan Stone, Kristin Hatley and Kate Stone.
