Bhisho artist to Soul train with Beyoncé
Bhisho born rapper Anathi Mnyango (26) whose stage name is Anatii has been nominated for a Soul Train Award alongside Beyoncé for his contribution to the hit song, Brown Skin girl which was featured in Beyoncé’s latest album, Lion King: The Gift.
The Eastern Cape singer, songwriter and record producer has been nominated for the Ashford and Simpson’s songwriter’s award for the song which featured Wizkid, Blue Ivy Carter and Saint Jhn. Made famous by his hit song, Thixo Onofefe also composed the track Mood Forever which featured Jay Z and Childish Gambino. The award ceremony is set to take place in Las Vegas on November 17.
“Big blessings are coming down, thank you Beyonce. Big up to the team behind the gift. The energy was pure, the cultural shift has begun. I am honoured to be amongst such amazing souls. Umthandazo uyasebenza (Prayer works),” said Anatii on his Instagram.
The young artist received his break when he was only 16 and released his debut album Artiifact three years ago featuring award winning South African rappers in AKA, Casper Nyovest, Nasty C and Uhuru American singer Omarion. He has released two more albums since.
He was selected as The Young Independents influencer of the year, GQ Magazine South Africa as one of the best-dressed men in 2017. The following year, he got listed in the Forbes Africa's 30 under 30 creatives list.
He won the South African Hip Hop Awards for best Music Video, Best Collaboration in 2015 and another award for Best Collaboration in 2017.
