Bikers from over 14 clubs host first Blanket and Soup run

Club Leaders Association organised its first Blanket and Soup run last week at which more than 120 bikers from 14 motor bike clubs attended.

We gathered at the beach front and had a mass ride to the Steelwings East London clubhouse which is located at the Comrades Bowling Club.

Various items were donated including blankets, knitted items, soup, two-minute noodles and cash.

CLA plans to make this an annual event and was thankful to everyone who contributed in cash and kind. “We are having an extremely cold winter and that there are so many less fortunate people who are forgotten or neglected by the system and or family, we decided that it would be great to collect blankets and instant soup,” said Donovan Walker. The blankets and soup were handed over to representatives from the Salvation Army who in turn will see to the distribution amongst the needy. “We need to make changes in the lives of these people and by coming together as bikers we can make this possible,” concluded Donovan who was thankful to all those who supported in cash or kind.
