Biking community’s Toy Run 2019 drive
Report & Photos By Rene West
The East London Bikers Toy Run spoiled over 250 local underprivileged children in what has been running on a National level for the past 28 years. Bikers came together to work towards giving children a feel of the Christmas spirit.
The committee was made up of members from various clubs and this year, it was supported by Any Random Act of Kindness (AROK), bringing Santa Claus, his helpers and the Fire Department to make the day a success.
The event reached far and wide, with club Immortal Guardians travelling to Makhanda and Port Alfred spreading the Christmas spirit. Clifford White, the Makhanda Chapter President was impressed with the organisation of the event amongst all local clubs.
Roco-O-Mamas were on board filling tummies, one of many participating local business sponsors. Kids were spoilt with face-painting, jumping castles, candyfloss, games, a treat of receiving a gift on Santa’s lap, goodie bags with toiletries, stationery and treats.
Such fulfilment beaming from the happy little faces to receive blessings from the biking community, from toddlers to teens. Besides the treats and gifts, the transport was arranged to ensure that it was possible for these little angels to be there.
This year’s event was encouraging with a good turnout, support and sponsors, both business and private making this possible.
In future if anyone wants to assist, donate or support they can get in touch with Chantel Walker on 0846450530 who is the current president of the EL Bikers Toy Run.
