Body of second teen found at Nahoon Reef

The body of a second teenage learner from Middelburg was found by surfers at the Nahoon Reef this morning at 8am after going missing during a swim on Sunday morning at the Eastern Beach. Police on the scene have confirmed that it is the body of the missing teenager.

The first teenager was found yesterday afternoon at the same beach by a beachgoer.

The two teenagers went missing on Sunday from the Eastern Beach. Three teenagers went for a swim during a school trip to East London. The third learner was rescued by lifeguards and rushed to hospital by emergency medical services in a stable condition for observation for non-fatal drowning symptoms.

The police are investigating the case of the two teenagers who drowned. They will release their names once the families have been contacted.

“It cannot be confirmed at this stage that the bodies are those of the two teenagers who drowned at Eastern Beach until they have been identified by the families,” said Captain Nkosikho Mzuku, spokesperson for the police.
