Book festival tackles autism
East London hosted a two-day Children’s book festival that had a special seminar on Autism Disorder and to encourage them and all children to read. The inaugural Eastern Cape Children’s Book Festival held last week at the East London Museum was hailed a success by the organisers.
It featured interactive workshops, book launches and puppet shows.
“We always look at the matric results and forget to lay a good foundation for children to enjoy books and to love reading. So, by the time they reach matric, at least the child is well aware and is able to read and be able to understand and enjoy new information that is found in books,” said Founder and Director of the festival, Vuyokazi Biyana.
