Border Bowls Masters Singles

Ladies runner-up Charmaine Comerasamy (EL), men’s runner-up Mike Underwood (Comrades), ladies winner, Debbie Bradfield (Comrades) and men’s winner Pari Comerassmy (EL) with their winning trophies.

As the 2019 bowls season draws closer to the end the Border Masters Singles was played out on the Comrades bowling greens on the 12 & 13th October.

The Masters Singles consists of the twelve current in form ladies and men bowlers chosen by the Border selectors.

They are divided into two sections of six each and then play a round-robin of five games each with the two-section winners playing each other in the final.

In the ladies section, Charmaine Comerasamy of the East London bowling club won four of her five round-robin games.

She ended on 8 points + 21 shots. with Margie Hobbs of Gonubie next best on 6 points + 21. The other section was won by Debbie Bradfield of Comrades on 8 +21 with Linky Mortlock of Dordrecht next best on 6 points +22. Bradfield secured victory by beating Comerasamy 21 – 9 in the final.

Pari Comerasamy of East London bowling club and Mike Underwood of Comrades both won all five of their men's round-robin games. Underwood got 10 points + 29 and Comerasamy 10 points + 30.

The two sectional runners up were Ulrich Steynberg of Colesburg on 6 points + 10 and Mark Hensberg of Old Selbornians on 6 points – 6. The final was won by Comerasamy by 21 shots to 13.
