Border Masters Half Marathon

The Border Masters Half Marathon is not a straight forward road race as every participant races only against their own five year age group category. Meaning that the runners final placings are only classified in their age groups and not on overall standings.

On this occasion the youngest category winner in the men’s race (35-39) was indeed first to the finish at the Buffalo Club. Real Gijimas runner, Andile Stuli won in 73:60 while Sandile Tsholoba of Old Mutual was first home in the 40-44 with a time of 80:30, followed a minute later by Xolile Mashicila of Overtakers.

The 45-49 race fell to Vusumzi Mbila of EL Pacers. Makaya Masumpa of Easy Equities Born 2 Run won the 50-54 race in 83:13 and his close friend and club mate Phillip Quvana took the 55-59 in 85:23.

Hanlie Botha in 84:54 was the first woman across the line winning the 40-44 group from her Born 2 Run stable mate Michelle Conroy in 99:45. The 35 year olds were led home by Old Selbornians’ Franza Landman in 96:27 followed by Sitha Sigenu of Real Gijimas in 97:40.
