Border U/13 show guts
Updated: Aug 6, 2019
The Border U/13A rugby side had a tough time in three of their four Craven Week encounters in Witrivier, Mpumalanga recently.
In their first match against the Golden Lions they went down 57 - 7 and in their encounter against the Leopards they succumbed 20 - 15. Against the Griffons they fell afoul of a young and inexperienced referee, having two tries disallowed. Unable to regain their momentum they went down 22-0.
Their last match against Zimbabwe saw them savoring the sweet taste of victory when they convincingly won 40-17. Beaconhurst Primary’s Qiqa Qwesha was the top try scorer with five tries in the week.
Byronne Joseph, head coach said the score lines did not reflect the quality of rugby the boys played and these sentiments were equally expressed by opposition coaching staff and spectators. “The boys displayed character to rise above the losses and showcase their quality against the Zimbabwean national team,” said Joseph.
