Buffalo Cricket Club hosts golf day
Buffalo Cricket Club held its Annual Golf Day at the West Bank Golf Course on Saturday.
As the club’s biggest fundraiser the much needed funds will be going towards building a second home field as the use of the primary field (Buffalo Park) is limited due to provincial, franchise and international cricket fixtures taking preference over club fixtures.
The past three years saw a field of around 150 players entering the golf day, unfortunately the weather this year was not conducive to good golf and only 109 golfers arrived on the day. With pre-bookings indicating a full field this was disappointing as others could possibly have booked and played in their place.
Nonetheless an enjoyable day was had with good company and sponsored watering holes along the course.
Well done to Heinrich Knoetze on winning our 2019 golf day, scoring 47 points despite the wind.
We had loads of prizes up for grabs, from 1st through to 20th; all three par three holes had closest to the pin prizes; the longest drive on one hole and four longest walk players received prizes. Buffs Cricket Club extends our gratitude to the West Bank Golf Course for again hosting our annual golf day, to all our members who helped secure sponsors and that helped on the day and especially our out of town members (Geoff, Len and Daryll) that flew in to play.
Thank you to all the golfers, our amazing sponsors and supporters. Your support and loyalty to our club is most appreciated! Club member Eldon Stone must be congratulated on once again pulling off a very successful day.
Once a Buff, always a Buff.
