CANSA Survive the race

This weekend brought the community together to join in the fight against cancer as the annual CANSA Survive The Race held its eighth event.

Hosted by Beacon Bay Lions for the second time and supported by MAX 4 Cars, this benefit was held for the local CANSA association.

The mood of the day was set with teams of six people per car, arriving in high spirit. A total of 50+ teams entered, all beaming with expectation of the day's challenges set before them.

The first seven events managed to raise R380,000. Last years event, netted an approximate R70,000. This year saw a record number of entries. There were many sponsors who made this event the huge success that it was, Riso and NRG were once again on board.

Local businesses stepped in and a big thanks to Barry Brown and Alderson Ambulance for providing medical safety throughout the day. Business outside of East London also supported with The Wacky Woods Resort along Gamtoos providing a prize which was auctioned off, raising R5,000 thanks to Jason Marcus for making this bid a record.

Further donations can be made to Michelle Goddard of CANSA.
