Children get underwear and shoes in DV

The Duncan Village Homegrown Foundation donated school clothing to 250 learners at Nontuthuzelo Public Primary School based in the Gompo township. The learners predominantly come from impoverished family backgrounds made up of a high unemployment rate.

Children expressed that it is usually too cold to walk barefooted to schools. Zizipho Njadu and Simphiwe Mashenxe, the co-founders of Homegrown were touched by the plight of children and are supported by local businesses. “Once a learner has no school uniform, it can be the reason for them to drop-out early.

We as the Foundation in collaboration with the Duncan village youth recognise that education is the key and we want to make sure that these kids get this necessary educational development,” said Njadu.

School principal, Mpendulo Nqoma and parents expressed gratitude to the Foundation and the leadership of the youth of Ward-7.
