Christmas outing for 86 children

By Rene West

Angel Outreach and Round Table Border Area hosted its third annual Christmas Party for 86 children from children’s homes in the East London area recently at the Gonubie Ski Boat Club.

Children from Daily Bread, East London Child & Youth Care Centre, Greensleeves and Gods Heart Desires were present to meet Santa!

Candice Woodbridge of Angels Outreach said, “It is a day where the children can get out and enjoy the beauty of our beaches. All year they are stuck at their respective homes, where they live and go to school. So an outing like this seems pretty normal to us but for the children, it is a magic day out!”

Lance Weyer of East London Round Table said, “On arrival, the children enjoyed breakfast, then had a lovely swim in the river with lots of fun floating toys, and then played ball games and built sandcastles on the beach. A great highlight was the visit from Father Christmas, who came with gifts and party packs donated by Round Table! Lunch was a real treat – kindly donated by KFC. Beach towels were donated by Round Table and Investec and Alderson Ambulance made sure we were all safe on the day.

What makes it a most special day is that the Round Table men and women along with Angel Outreach and their volunteers stand in the gap as ‘parents’ for the day spending quality time with the children, creating everlasting memories for all.”

Never too young or too old for Santa! Highlights during the Christmas Party hosted by Angel Outreach and Round Table Border at the Gonubie Ski Boat Club.
