Jityaza Combined Primary School in King William’s Town received an infrastructure boost from the MultiChoice Group (MCG) as part of its Madiba Do Up project to celebrate the life of South Africa’s former statesman Nelson Rholihlahla Mandela.

The renovations included the construction of additional classrooms, a media centre with Wi-Fi connectivity and computers were installed in partnership with Mustek Ltd and a world-class, multipurpose, five-a-side sports field.

“R6 million has been invested on school facilities at four primary schools, two in Limpopo and two in the Eastern Cape. This is our ongoing commitment to sustainable development in the Eastern Cape,” said Reggy Moalusi, Executive Head of Corporate Affairs for MultiChoice South Africa.

This is also part of the collaboration signed last week between MultiChoice and the Eastern Cape Department of Sports, Recreation, Art and Culture. Eastern Cape Education MEC Fundile Gade encouraged the private sector to play a meaningful role in improving the quality of lives.

The Madiba Do Up will be broadcasted as a special edition documentary in celebration of Madiba’s 102 birthday, sharing the story of the school renovations and what it means for each of these communities.
