More than 350 Eastern Cape primary and high school learners participated at the National Schools Sport Winter Championships held on from July 01 until July 5.
The athletes, some physically challenged, represented the province in tennis, rugby, chess, hockey, soccer, netball and volleyball. The annual tournament culminates from a controlled league where various schools compete from local, circuit, district and provincial levels to qualify for the Championships.
According to MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Fezeka Bayeni, school sport remains the Bedrock of sport development and “the province continues to make an indelible mark in the national school sport championships: winter games, summer games and autumn games”.
