Five killed in three-car crash

A case of culpable homicide has been opened following a car crash that has left five people dead in Thornhill near Jeffrey’s Bay. It is alleged that there was a collision of a truck carrying a trailer and two vehicles (Nissan Livina and Honda CRV) on the N2 between Thornhill and Jeffery’s Bay (Humansdorp area) around 8pm yesterday (Wednesday).

The Nissan had four occupants, a male driver (51), and two females (40 and 45) and a five-year-old girl. The male driver of the Honda (73) was swung out of the vehicle and burnt on the scene.

“The circumstances surrounding the accident are not clear at this stage, a case of culpable homicide has been opened,” confirmed Captain Gerda Swart.
