Making an impact one CPR lesson at a time

Alan Hattingh (pictured far right) is seen with mums and infants after conducting CPR training at a local clinic.

Alan Hattingh has been teaching Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, commonly known as CPR, for the past five years and has hopes of offering his services in the townships, to teach those who cannot afford to pay for his classes, but need them.

Hattingh takes care of a couple of schools around East London in the first aid division.

The schools include Selborne College, Hudson Park and St Christopher amongst others.

He is an accredited assessor and facilitator for first aid training and has been practising for the past 12 years.

He is a CPR instructor for Advanced Automotive Technology. They offer competitive prices in the hopes of helping those who cannot afford to pay a lot of money for training. Hattingh has worked for various emergency services such as Aldersons and Dynamic Ambulance Services.

“We want the common person to have first aid qualification, that’s why we charge only R450. We would rather help someone who wants training and cannot afford it than say no to them. They don’t get training but are prone to accidents or are at the scene of accidents,” he said.

Hatting aims to have a maximum of 15 CPR students.
