Man arrested over missing EL teen

Cape Town police arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the disappearance of East London teenager, Uyinene Mrwetyana (19) in Claremont on Friday.

This is after UCT hired two more Private Investigators to add to the one hired by the Mrwetyana family. Brigadier Novela Potelwa of the Western Cape police said the search for Uyinene continues and they are interrogating the suspect who will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Police are confident that the suspect will lead them to the whereabouts of Uyinene, but refused to divulge why the man is suspected.

The parents of Uyinene’s friends remember her as a ''happy girl'' who comes from a very loving family and are hopeful that she will return home unharmed. The Church has asked people not to believe all the hype on social media about Mrwetyana’s disappearance and to just continue praying for her and her family.

Rwetyana is a first-year BA Film and Media studies student at the University of Cape Town. She was last seen at the Claremont Post Office, last Saturday afternoon in Cape Town.
