Miss Wild Coast finalist loves travel and nature

Chumasande Somazembe (22) has made it to the Top 15 in the Miss Wild Coast 2019 pageant, with finals to be held later in the year.

Somazembe is a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student at Walter Sisulu University’s East London campus.

Themed “Shaped by Nature”, the pageant aims to empower women and promote tourism in the Wild Coast.

Out of the top 15, some will be chosen to be brand ambassadors that will represent the Wild Coast and the tourism industry.

The young lass is a self-confessed admirer of nature and is deeply connected with her Xhosa culture.

“I entered the competition because I love travelling to beautiful nature reserves and I believe we have to promote nature and the beauty of the Eastern Cape; our province is amazing. I am happy that I have made it this far,” she said.

Somazembe was crowned Royal Princess of Miss Eagle in 2018 and she came third in Miss Varsity Shield WSU in 2019. The venue and the date of the finals is yet to be announced.
