The Border Light Tackle Monster competition was held on Saturday the 1st and 2nd of February on the Buffalo River. This annual competition attracts many boat and bank anglers each year and again did not disappoint, with 163 anglers entering and competing for the many valuable prizes.
The competition runs throughout the night and marshals had their hands full going around to all anglers to recognise and record their catches. All fish were successfully released and the anglers and spectators were kept well fed and hydrated with the East London Ski Boat Club staying open throughout the night. Some very nice catches were recorded and the winning anglers were not disappointed at the prize giving.
Unfortunately for them the three tagged fish that had a prize of R10 000 each, once again eluded them but this did not deter the anglers from trying and having a great time.
The results were as follows:
Heaviest edible, Ruaan van der Merwe with a Cob of 6kg;
