No bodies found in Khayelitsha house!

The Western Cape police have refuted claims that four bodies were found buried at the residence of Luyanda Botha, charged with the rape and murder of East London’s Uyinene Mrwetyana (19) in Lingelethu West, Khayelitsha last night.

“This rumour was circulated on social media following an incident where a resident has been torched by community members during a protest action. Our members were immediately deployed to the area to maintain law and to quell any form of violence,” said Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the matter and arrests are yet to be made.

Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams

Meanwhile, Minister of Communications, Telecommunications and Postal Services Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has instructed that an inquest be opened on how Botha was employed by the Post Office while he has a previous criminal record.

Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Eric Ntabazalila confirmed that Botha had a run in with the law before. “I think it is of armed robbery... what we call robbery with aggravating circumstances. There is also a case of rape that he had but it was withdrawn. I don't have the circumstances of why it was withdrawn," he said.
