No spanking kids!

Following the 2017 judgment outlawing corporal punishment in private homes, the Constitutional Court last week upheld this ruling, much to the chagrin of some South African parents, while some agreed that violence begets violence.


Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng rejected the notion that this judgment will make criminals of well-meaning parents. He stated that parents will be prosecuted for assault if convicted, have a criminal record or children can also be removed from the family home.
