Our global hero!
What a year it has been for Springboks captain Siyamthanda Kolisi.
Last week he was nominated for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) World Sports Star of the Year award up against Tiger Woods, Australian Cricket captain, Steve Smith and runner Eliud Kipchoge.
In an Instagram message he said, “I am very grateful for the @BBCSport recognition; however, this is not about one person. I am nothing without my teammates and our whole organisation. Proud to celebrate this nomination together,” said the ever so humble Zwide born youngster.
Kolisi was awarded the World Peace and Sport Champion for 2019 Award in Monaco last Thursday and earlier this month, he was declared as one of the top 100 most influential Africans by an international magazine. The purpose of the list is to showcase the talent hidden in Africa.
Add to that, he recently signed a multi-million-dollar deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports, a sports management company based in London. He is the first South African to be signed under this label owned by rapper and businessman Sean ‘Jay-Z’ Carter, who is reportedly worth well over R15 billion.
“I am looking forward to breaking new boundaries with this partnership. My pursuit of a greater future and inspiring the youth of South Africa will never stop.
