Rapist gets life after being nabbed by trainee detective
Trainee detective and investigating Officer, Constable Bulelwa Dyosi has seen her case get a life sentence and three years for a rapist at the East London High Court last week. Dyosi had been investigating a 62-year-old who continuously raped his 15-year-old niece from 2017 to 2019.
The man cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the teenager. The two relatives lived together at their home in Ntsonkotha location, just outside East London. He sexually assaulted and raped the child whenever his wife was not at home. In 2019, the child told her friend’s grandmother about the rape and the matter was reported to the police.
“The detective worked hard to oppose bail during the bail application. Dyosi said she had a challenge of the witness (grandmother of the victim’s friend) who relocated to Lusikisiki during the investigation. She said, “I am shocked and overwhelmed by all of this as I had just joined the family, child and sexual offences unit from the community service centre,” said Dyosi adding that achievements like this one, bring hope to the community.
Mdantsane cluster commander Major General Henry Vos was particularly impressed by this feat, more importantly, that Dyosi is new in this. Dyosi is attending a Resolving of Crime Course in Hammanskraal in order to sharpen her much needed detective skills in solving crimes, especially gender-based violence.
