Nedbank Running Club East London hosted its second 21.1km Gravel Crusher run on Saturday. Held at Farm 19 in Gulu with the title sponsor being Regent Concrete, the event included a 5km fun run where all participants received finisher gifts.

With over 200 entries, attractive medals were awarded to the first 200 who completed the main race. Given the recent heavy rainfall, the runners were fortunate to have a reasonably clear sunny morning. Comments from participants were that this could be the toughest local 21.1km run, even more challenging than the Bridal Drift race.

The top 3 positions for Men in the 21.1km were as follows: 1. Luthando Hejana - Old Mutual AC - East London (1:14.25), 2. Malixole Kalideni - Old Selbornian Road Runners (1:17:50), 3. Masibulele Tshibo - Nedbank Running Club East London (1:22:22).

The top 3 positions for Women in the 21.1km were: 1. Stephanie Smith - Team Massmart - (1:38:17), 2. Zandile Rubushe - Old Mutual AC - East London  (1:42:35), 3. Muziya Chirwa - Oxford Striders (1:48:20)
