Six-year-old killed by drunk driver

Updated: Jan 8

Ziphezi Mrwashu (6) had his life cut short when a drunk driver lost control of his BMW vehicle, plunged into an unfenced yard, knocking over the boy before crashing into two homes in Iziphunzana on New Year’s Eve.

The boy child had been playing with his two friends at the time of the incident. He was rushed to Frere hospital where he succumbed to head injuries. The community managed to arrest and hand over the drunk driver to the Scenery Park police.

The Mrwashu family, who survive on child grant, is appealing to the community to assist in funeral costs to lay their child to rest. Contact Ziphezi’s mother Ntombekhaya Mrwashu on 073 663 7093 or visit them at their home at #58483 in Reeston next to Mayibuye Bus Depot.

Spinning skidmarks can still be seen inside the Mrwashu yard, a week later.
