Springbok star pays tribute on World stage
Eastern Cape Rising Sun spoke exclusively to Tsholomnqa born and Mdantsane Springboks player Makazole Drex Mapimpi this week who is in Japan for the Rugby World Cup (RWC).
Mapimpi is using the RWC stage to pay tribute and condolences to the Mrwetyana family for the loss of their daughter, Uyinene (19). “I started wearing it in our pre-World Cup friendly against Japan. When this little girl was murdered, it was a difficult time for the family and South Africa. I sympathise with the family.”
He encouraged each South African man to treat children and women better. “Women nurture us into becoming better versions of ourselves, take care of us with the most love. We absolutely cannot afford to mistreat them. Remain kind so that women and children do not fear us, but rather feel safe in our surroundings.”
