Suspect in Clarke-Abrahams case yet to be charged with murder
The police are waiting for postmortem results of Angelique Clarke-Abrahams (25) who died in hospital after being assaulted and raped by a man who is alleged to be her husband.
The 30-year old was arrested and he appeared in court on Monday on the charge of assault with intention to do grievous bodily harm and rape. This was before Abrahams died after being in a coma for five days at Cecilia Makiwane hospital.
“We have to wait for the postmortem results before he is fully charged with all crimes concerned. At this stage I am not sure if he pled in court,” said Captain Hazel Mqala, spokesperson for the police.
Clarke-Abrahams was raped and beaten in front of her five-year-old son at their Fynbos home. The attacker locked her inside the house and left.
