Tight lines for Dick Noel Trophy

Kwelera Ski Boat Club beat Gonubie Marine Club by a narrow margin of 7 points, scoring 41 points to GMC’s 34.

Competed between the two clubs for the last six years on a home and away basis, the winning trophy is named in honour of the late Dick Noel, a past legend of GMC.

Comprising of the top six boats and 24 anglers from each club, points are awarded on all bottom fish species for the biggest three fish caught.

Last year KSBC romped home by beating GMC by more than 50 points, however, this year was a much closer contested affair. Both clubs weighed in seven of the biggest species with KSBC taking advantage on the second and third biggest species to win narrowly.

Hosted by KSBC this year, all anglers fished with great camaraderie and sportsmanship which will continue for many years to come.

With some very nice fish making the scales it goes to show that the conservation efforts by the affiliated clubs of the Border Deep Sea Angling Association are paying off.

KSBC secured the trophy for the third consecutive year and I’m sure GMC will mean business when we meet again next year. Tight Lines
