Virtual CANSA Care Centres Launched in Certain Communities
The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) announces, as part of a recent process to streamline, modernise and improve the organisation, that certain CANSA Care Centres will work remotely to offer services within particular communities and no longer offer services from a physical office or space.
Employees will be home-based and Care Centres operating under these conditions will be referred to as Virtual CANSA Care Centres.
Says Gavin Kester, CANSA’s Unit Manager: Eastern Cape, “As CANSA, we actively make use of technology to support daily operations, with the dual purpose of lowering costs, while forging better ways of providing service. We’re transitioning over to a virtually-supported system in East London as a result. I’d like to assure the public, as our valued community and supporters, that despite the tough economic times we are facing, CANSA staff and volunteers remain committed to providing care and support to those affected by cancer.”
There will be no impact on our key service offerings for example cancer screening and medical equipment hire. CANSA has continued to provide vital services to cancer patients during lockdown including taking care of patients at the CANSA Strelitzia Care Home in Port Elizabeth and continuing to provide online and telephonic counselling. Recently, Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, donated a new transporter vehicle that will be used for patients that have come to Port Elizabeth from all over the Eastern Cape and need to be transported to and from their cancer treatments, while being accommodated at the CANSA Care Home.
