Yiba, on his first Buyel’Ekhaya

By Mihle Tolobisa

South African Idols season 15 winner Luyolo Yiba (24) wowed the audience with his first massive audience performance in East London during the 9th Annual Buyel’Ekhaya Pan African Music Festival at Buffalo Stadium on Sunday.

Yiba, who was added to the show’s line-up last minute delivered an amazing performance of his single, Sunshine Through The Rain, Usher’s Oh My God and the late Thami Shobede’s Love You, amongst his song selection.

His performance was interrupted by a praise song from at least 20 000 attendees at the festival. They caught him by surprise as he smiled in disbelief. The lyrics of the song said: this is Luyolo, those that don’t know him, it’s because they have never seen him. Yiba shared the stage with the likes of Zonke, Busiswa, Sho Madjozi, Nathi and the Jaziel Brothers.

“I was expecting love because this is my home but I did not see the praise song coming, that was overwhelming. I am really happy and grateful,” he said.

A lucky festival attendant from Mdantsane was brought to the stage in her wheelchair to be serenaded by Yiba. He announced that he will be releasing new music in February 2020.
